Course Content
This course is an 8-hour course and includes classroom and range time. This course includes basics of shooting revolvers and semi-automatic handguns. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; handgun parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
The shooting portion of the course will likely take place at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club on the West side of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. This is an outdoor range so please dress appropriately for the weather.
This course is a NRA (National Rifle Association) course. It is taught according to the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting curriculum. Learn more about the NRA.

- Eye & Ear Protection
- It is recommended (but not required) that you bring a 3-ring binder to the course along with writing utensils.
Fees & Registration
Cost of the course: $50
A $20 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place. The remainder is due the day of the course.
