What to Expect at Defensive Handgun Training at RVAA
(Serious Defense Skills, No Fluff)
This is a 6-hour course with a focus on real-world defensive skills. We’ll cover the basics like grip, stance, and trigger control, but that’s just the beginning. We talk about efficiency with your firearms, if you are efficient with your firearm you can manipulate it faster.
Then, we get into the good stuff:
reloading drills of every kind.
Whether it’s administrative, emergency, tactical, or retention. We will teach you how to practice so that you’ll be reloading faster and with more confidence than you ever thought possible. Because let’s face it: if you’re out of rounds when you need them most, you don’t want to be fumbling around.
And that’s not all – we add barricades, movement, and multiple-target drills to give you experience in real-life scenarios. You’ll be moving, aiming, and shooting from all kinds of positions so, with practice, you’re ready for anything.

Equipment Needed For Pistol Safety & Use Training
At River Valley Arms and Ammo, we know what you actually need in your gear bag and your coffee mug, so we cut the fluff and get straight to the good stuff. These are the go-tos for the folks who know their way around a range and won’t settle for less.
Defensive handgun
22 caliber and magnum rounds are allowed but discouraged
Minimum of 2 magazines
3 or more are strongly encouraged
Quality holster
Either outside the waistband or inside the waistband is acceptable
Cover/concealment garment
A cover garment is something like a jacket, vest, etc.
300 rounds of ammunition
Eye & ear protection

This defensive pistol course in Morton, MN is not for brand new shooters.
