MN Permit to Carry Course


This course teaches about the use of deadly force, Minnesota state permit to carry laws, and safe carry practices. 


If you are looking to be able to protect yourself and your family with a firearm, or just gain more knowledge of the Minnesota Permit to Carry laws, this is the course for you. Carrying a firearm is a lot of responsibility. This course helps to navigate those responsiblities including firearm safety, Minnesota Carry Laws, basic manipulation of a handgun, gear, ammunition, use of force, what to do after a deadly confrontation, and more.

Course Content

This is an 8 hour course with both classroom instruction as well as a range element. This course is for individuals who have a basic familiarization with firearms and wish to defend themselves and others.  This course covers the use of deadly force, Minnesota state permit to carry laws, safe carry practices, basic manipulation of a firearm, carry gear, ammunition, and more.

If you are concerned that you do not have a basic familiarization with firearms, please consider taking our Handguns 101 course or our Firearms 101 course prior to taking the Concealed Carry Class.  

The classroom portion of this course is held in the classroom at River Valley Arms & Ammo in Morton, Minnesota. The range portion of this course will likely be held at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club on the West side of Redwood Falls. This is an outdoor range, please dress appropriately for the weather as we shoot rain or shine.

Required Equipment

  1. A Handgun (semi-autos with extra magazines of a reasonable defense caliber are preferred but revolvers are also allowed)
  2. 60 Rounds of Ammunition
  3. Eye & Ear Protection
  4. Holster (optional)

**If you do not have access to a handgun or ammunition is an issue, please contact us to make arrangements prior to the course.

Fees & Registration

Cost of the course: $100 or $75 if you are renewing your permit

A $20 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place. The remainder is due the day of the course.
