If you are looking to learn more about firearm safety, types of handguns, and best practices for basic manipulation, this is the class for you.

Course Content

This is a 4 hour course with both classroom instruction as well as a range element. This course is for individuals who are looking for a refresher or have never touched a handgun. This course covers firearm safety, types of handguns, parts of a handgun, loading and unloading, best practices for grip, stance, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control and more.

Handguns, ammunition, and eye & ear protection will be provided for this course, however, if you have handguns in your home that you’d like to learn more about, you’re welcome to bring them along. Please plan on purchasing ammunition at River Valley Arms & Ammo or bringing your own for this firearm.

The classroom portion of this course is held in the classroom at River Valley Arms & Ammo in Morton, Minnesota. The range portion of this course will likely be held at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club on the West side of Redwood Falls. This is an outdoor range, please dress appropriately for the weather as we shoot rain or shine.

Fees & Registration

Cost of the course: $75

A $20 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place. The remainder is due the day of the course.
