Larry Weidell
The King of Precision Shooting at River Valley Arms & Ammo
A Legend in High Power Shooting
When it comes to precision shooting, Larry Weidell isn’t just good—he’s a legend. With over 20 years of experience in High Power competitions, Larry has earned his place among the elite. As an NRA Master in High Power Rifle, a Distinguished Marksman with the CMP, and a proud member of the President’s 100, Larry’s resume speaks for itself.
If there was a Hall of Fame for sharpshooters, Larry would have his own wing.

—Coach, Instructor, Competor
He’s the guy who’ll take you from “I’ve never shot a rifle” to “I just nailed that bullseye at 600 yards.”
But don’t think for a second that Larry is just about hitting targets from 500 yards away—he’s much more than that. Not only does Larry dominate on the range, but he’s also an NRA Level One High Power Coach, a 4H Shooting Sports Coach, and a Minnesota DNR Hunter Safety Instructor. Larry has competed across Minnesota and the U.S., representing the Minnesota State Service Rifle Team at the National Matches at Camp Perry, Ohio. He’s also a certified Permit to Carry instructor, helping folks stay safe and confident when carrying concealed.

What is High Power Shooting?
So, what exactly is High Power shooting?
Let’s break it down. These aren’t your average backyard plinking sessions. We’re talking about shooting at 200, 300, and 500/600 yards with iron sights, requiring skill, focus, and precision. If you want to push the limits even further, there are matches up to 1,000 yards—both with iron and scoped sights.
The gear?
You’ll be using serious firearms like the AR15, M14/M1A, or vintage beauties like the M1 Garand and 1903 Springfield. You can also now use a 4.5x scope shooting service rifle as well as iron sights as well as shoot a black powder cartridge out to 800 yards Quigley Down Under style of rifle.
An Inclusive Sport for All
And here’s the kicker: High Power shooting is one of the most inclusive sports out there. Men, women, young, old—everyone competes on equal footing. Whether you’re a seasoned shooter or just getting started, it’s a sport that welcomes all, with the same gear, the same rules, and the same adrenaline rush.
