Behind the Bang: RVAA Volunteers at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club

At River Valley Arms & Ammo, we like to think of ourselves as more than just a gun shop with good taste in sarcasm and trigger discipline. We’re a community. A crew. A somewhat rowdy, gear-loving family of firearm fanatics that believes in giving back to the places that give us room to shoot straight—literally and figuratively. That’s why you’ll regularly find us showing up (sometimes with snacks and beverages, always with opinions) to support the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club.

Let’s Get One Thing Straight—We Don’t Run the Club

Nope, we don’t own it. We’re not in charge. We don’t even boss people around officially. The Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club is its own proud, independent beast—a local treasure that’s been going strong since 1968. It’s built on a foundation of conservation, community, and a deep love for the shooting sports. Think of it as the sacred ground where archers, rifle nuts, trap shooters, and everyone in between come to test their skills and teach the next generation how to aim true (and pick up their brass).

We’re just lucky enough to volunteer there—and proud to do it.

Volunteers: Not Just Range Junkies, But Real MVPs

The truth is, this club runs on grit, passion, and the elbow grease of its members. And when the call goes out for help, RVAA is happy to answer just like a number of other club members. Whether it’s setting up safety signage that weighs more than Marcel’s emotional baggage, running pistol league matches smoother than Becky’s corgi’s belly, or simply flipping burgers at Family Night—our crew is there, usually laughing too loud and doing the hard stuff because we love this community.

Pistol competitions that need timers, RSOs, and scorekeepers? We’ve got people who actually enjoy spreadsheets. Go figure.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just about playing with cool toys (though, let’s be honest, that’s a big perk). It’s about making sure that future hunters, conservationists, and sharpshooters have a place to learn, grow, and compete. It’s about preserving traditions and creating new ones. And if RVAA can lend a hand while cracking a few jokes and showing off some questionable camo fashion choices—well, that’s just icing on the (gunpowder-flavored) cake.

Want In? Join Us.

The Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club is always looking for good people to step up. Whether you're into rifles, archery, pistols, youth outreach, or just want to help clean up after the banquet—there’s a spot for you. Not sure where to start? Come chat with us at the shop. We’ll point you in the right direction (and probably talk you into signing up for something while you’re distracted by a shiny new rifle).

Come for the cause, stay for the camaraderie. We’ll save you a spot on the volunteer crew—and maybe even a donut.
