We had an absolute blast with all of you at Suppressor Night on Wednesday, March 26th at River Valley Arms & Ammo! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us—it was a great evening filled with good food, great company, and solid information. Becky's shredded beef sandwiches were a hit (as always!), and it was awesome to connect with so many friends, family, and neighbors from near and far. Whether you were there to learn, shop, or just hang out, we truly appreciate you spending the evening with us.
One of the most valuable parts of the night was the deep dive into suppressor ownership—especially the legal process and maintenance tips that came up during our conversations.
Individual vs. Trust Purchase
In case you missed it, we talked about the difference between buying a suppressor as an individual versus through a gun trust. Since suppressors are regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA), they require a tax stamp. If you're the only one who will be using the suppressor, applying as an individual works just fine. However, if you want others—like family members or close friends—to legally use the suppressor without you present, a gun trust is the way to go. We've got more detailed info on this on our website: Learn More.
Suppressor Maintenance 101
We also shared some best practices on keeping your suppressor in top shape. Whether you own a sealed suppressor or a user-serviceable model, regular cleaning is essential. For sealed units, soaking in a quality suppressor-specific solvent and thorough rinsing and drying is key. For user-serviceable suppressors, disassembly allows for a deeper clean using solvents, brushes, and even ultrasonic cleaners.

No matter the type, regular inspection and a cleaning schedule tailored to your usage (every 350-500 rounds for rimfire, every few thousand for centerfire) will help extend the life and performance of your suppressor. And remember—always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals.
Thanks again for coming out and making Suppressor Night such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
