Online MN Permit to Carry Course
April 25, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
$100.00We’re going to try something new. We’re all experiencing a lot of new things lately with all this COVID-19 crap so why not, right? Since we’re all going to be locked up for two weeks, you might as well renew or get your MN Permit to Carry. We will be offering a virtual MN Permit to Carry course that will run through all the classroom portion so you can do this from the comfort of your own couch!
What the class will look like
A standard permit to carry course has two parts; the first is the classroom curriculum. This is what we’ll be covering during the virtual class. We will use Zoom as our vitural classroom. Course attendance is required to complete the class. Because of this, we will be asking you to leave your video on when you join the Zoom call.
The second part of the course is the shooting qualifier. Per Minnesota State Statute, we are required to have a shooting portion of the class as well. Due to the range closure, we will be completing the shooting qualifier on private property. A shooting qualifier will be offered the day of the online course following the virtual session. We will follow CDC recommendations for social distancing and complete the shooting qualifier.
Course Overview
River Valley Arms & Ammo is certified through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to teach this course. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate that allows them to apply for their MN Permit to Carry at their local sheriff’s office. River Valley Arms & Ammo instructors are also certified NRA Instructors — because of this, upon successful completion, students will also be able to apply for a non-resident permits in WI, IA and FL.
MN Permit to Carry courses are offered at least once a month at River Valley Arms & Ammo in Morton, MN. Private courses are available (at no additional charge) for parties of 4 students or more at River Valley Arms & Ammo or on location (travel fees may be applicable).
There are no prerequisites for the MN Permit to Carry course but if you’re not familiar with handguns, please consider taking our Firearm Fundamentals.
Schedule
We’ll spend the first 4 or so hours going in the classroom covering MN carry statutes, use of force and other elements. Then, at a date to be determined during the course, we’ll head over to the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club for the 60 round shooting qualifier. The qualifier consists of:
- 10 rounds at 3 yards
- 10 rounds at 5 yards
- 10 rounds at 7 yards
- 10 rounds at 9 yards
- 20 rounds of guided personal defense drills
