NRA Basic Rifle
If you are looking to learn more about rifles, this is the course for you.
Course Content
This course is a 14 hour course. This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.
The shooting portion of the course will likely take place at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club on the West side of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. This is an outdoor range so please dress appropriately for the weather.
This course is a NRA (National Rifle Association) course. It is taught according to the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting curriculum. Learn more about the NRA.

- Eye & Ear Protection
- It is recommended (but not required) that you bring a 3-ring binder to the course along with writing utensils.
Fees & Registration
Cost of the course: $50
A $20 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place. The remainder is due the day of the course.
