Couples’ Night at the Range
Join us at the Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club for a shooting event that can be enjoyed by a couple!
Calling all couples; Husbands and wives; boyfriends and girlfriends! I read a long time ago that the three firearms everyone should own is a shotgun, 22 rifle, and a pistol. Mind you that is a minimum, you can have more. You can have his and hers, different sizes, etc, but what good are they if you don’t use them? So we have come up with a short but fun and challenging course of fire.
Welcome to the 10X3 Couples Match. This match has each member of the team shooing tens shots at the trap range, ten shots at clays on a stick with the 22 rifle, and ten shots at the falling plates with a centerfire pistol. You can coach each other or not, share equipment or shoot your own firearm. You can use your friends firearm(s). It will be conducted the first Wednesday of August the 3rd at 6:30 PM. Cost is $10 per team.
Shotgun. Any suitable 12 or 20 gauge and ammunition. The shooter starts at the sixteen-yard line and the station of their choice: 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5; shoots five shots and then moves to the station to the right and shoots five more, 1-2, 3-4, 5-1.
Rifle. Any-Any. Any 22 rifle: Bolt action, lever action, auto loader, etc. Any sight: iron, peep or open, scope, aim point. The shooter shoots five shots standing and five shots sitting or kneeling. The targets are clay shotgun targets on a stick at 27 yards. Just like in trap you have to hit or chip one to count as a hit.
Pistol. Any-Any. Any centerfire pistol in pistol caliber, 9mm, 38, 44-40, 45 etc; revolver, auto-loader, single shot. The shooter shoots the rack of five falling plates, reset and repeat. The shooter can shoot two handed or one handed.
Ammunition will be available for purchase. If you are shooting something exotic, you need to bring your own.
Ladies, bring your husband or your boyfriend, not both. This hold true for the gentlemen as well.
Come out on Tuesday nights to practice you trap shooting skills.
