Dear friends and family,
This week is especially exciting for our family. Dad, Zach and I are officially having the Grand Opening of
River Valley Arms & Ammo at our Morton, MN location.
As you may know, we’ve always been a family that’s passionate about hunting and firearms so it seemed like a natural transition when we decided to start RVAA so Dad could back off a little from turning wrenches. We first applied for our FFL (Federal Firearms License) at the beginning of 2013, and started working from Mom & Dad’s house. A year later, the opportunity to purchase the old city hall building in Morton came up (and for Mom to get her family room back). And here we are!
We opened the doors on August 1st at the Morton shop to work out some kinks before we held our Grand Opening… and, fingers crossed, we’re ready! Having the larger space has allowed us to expand our inventory to be able to offer a wider variety of firearms, ammunition, accessories, safes and training. We have supplies for hunting as well as personal protection and shooting sports.
Someday, we hope to grow the business so that it will not only support our family but also other employees. It’s not just Dad, Zach and I putting the time and effort into trying to make this business work so I wanted to let you know that there are a few other awesome people helping us out.
Ali Schroeder – Ali is pretty freakin’ awesome so if you haven’t met her, the Grand Opening is a good chance to get to know an amazing person. Ali & Bob are Mom & Dad’s neighbors. Bob and his brother grew up in the house next to Mom & Dad’s and they’ve always been friends of ours. When I think of Bob & Ali, I think of Zach and the word “shenanigans.” 🙂 Ali loves shooting and has been helping out at the gun shop A LOT… so we love her for that too!
Mom – As anyone who knows our family knows, my mom is the glue that keeps us all from falling apart… or killing each other. Even though she’s not an official owner of the business, she’s as much a part of this as any of us. Like I said, Mom’s primary role in the organization is peace officer. 🙂 (It’s not that bad but we could probably make that an official position as it’s a vital part of the organization.) She also prevents us from starving to death by bringing delicious food down to the gun shop when we’re working late.
Honorable mentions: Bob Okins, Derek MacHolda, Matt Johnson, the City of Morton (especially Shirley), Renville County EDA (especially Chris Hettig), Hometown Bank (especially Scott Kodet) and Marcel Krueger.
I know you might not be able to make the trip to check out the Grand Opening but please know that the invitation stands for you to come and check the place out. I’d love to see you at the Open House but if you can’t make it, consider sharing our
Grand Opening Event or
Facebook Page on Facebook to help us promote it! And, if you
can make it, bring your friends! Haha! 🙂
Love you all and hope to see you there!
