Women-Only Training Weekend October 19th-20th
I’m pretty pumped for our first Women-Only Training Weekend coming up in October! There’s been a lot of ladies interested and asking about taking the women-only classes we offer so we decided to put together a whole weekend of awesomeness!
We all need practice and practice starts with the fundamentals. So that’s what our weekend starts with!
Saturday:
We’ll get started on Saturday at River Valley Arms & Ammo at 9am. You’re welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks or we can take a break for lunch and you can run into town and grab a bite to eat! We do have a full kitchen available to prepare meals in case you need a microwave, stove or oven.
With both fundamentals courses, firearms and ammunition are provided but you are welcome to bring a firearm of your own if you’d like to learn more about it! You will also need eye and ear protection for the range. Prescription glasses are an acceptable form of eye protection. And, FYI, we do have those available for purchase if you need them! 😉
4 hour Firearm Fundamentals
Firearm Fundamentals is for people who are looking to learn more about the basics of firearms. This course is a great course for people who are only familiar with one type of firearm or have never fired a gun before.
This course offers both a classroom and range element. It will cover the fundamentals of firearms including handgun, rifle and shotgun. It will cover safe handling practices, loading and unloading, and more.
2 hour Handgun Fundamentals
Handgun Fundamentals is for people who are looking to learn more about handguns. This course focuses only on handguns (revolvers and semi-auto pistols). It’s great for people who are new to firearms or are looking to learn more about handguns in general.
This course offers both a classroom and range element. It will cover the fundamentals of handguns including safe handling practices, loading and unloading, and more.
After hours
Well, if you know anything about me, you know that I love guns and I love wine… however, not at the same time, of course! So, I welcome you to join me for a glass of vino at one of our local wineries, Grandview Winery after we’re done with the fundamentals courses!
Sunday:
We have the same basic game plan for Sunday! We’ll meet up at River Valley Arms & Ammo at 9am. Again, you’re welcome to bring your own lunch or snacks or we can take a break for lunch and you can run into town and grab a bite to eat! We do have a full kitchen available to prepare meals in case you need a microwave, stove or oven.
For the MN Permit to Carry course, you’ll need to bring a few things:
- Your handgun (We’d prefer it if you brought the handgun you’re planning on carrying, however, it’s perfectly acceptable to borrow a firearm from a friend or relative if you don’t have one. We also have a handgun available for rent for $15.)
- 100 rounds of ammunition (If you do not have 100 rounds of ammunition, please contact us. We may have it available for purchase or we will need to make arrangements for the qualifier.)
- Eye & ear protection (Prescription glasses are acceptable for eye protection. We have eye and ear protection available for purchase if you need it.)
If you have any questions about anything, please contact me, Heather, at 701-388-8659 or heather@rivervalleyarms.com.
Minnesota Permit to Carry
The Minnesota Permit to Carry (CCW) course is an 8 hour course but we typically get through the materials in about 6 hours, depending on class size. The CCW course allows you carry a concealed handgun. It also doubles as your permit to purchase. The Minnesota Permit to Carry certificate is valid for 5 years.
This course is for those who have a basic understanding of firearms. The Firearm Fundamentals and Handgun Fundamentals courses give you the background you need to take this course.
Cost
First of all, this isn’t an all-or-nothing deal. You can pick and choose which classes you’d like to take. If you are interested in taking the MN Permit to Carry class but you are already familiar with firearms, and handguns in particular, you don’ t need to take the fundamentals courses (even though they’re going to be really fun and we all need to keep practicing!).
Second, you can either sign up for the classes online through our website by clicking on the links below, or you can call or email me, Heather, at 701-388-8659 or heather@rivervalleyarms.com and just let me know that you want to register for the course and that way, you can just pay when you come to take the courses.
**Get $25 off your Minnesota Permit to Carry class when you take a fundamentals course!
4 hour Firearm Fundamentals – $100
2 hour Handgun Fundamentals – $50
