Whether you’re brand new to firearms or looking to expand your knowledge\, this two-day experience is designed just for women. \nThis weekend consists of three comprehensive courses covering firearm fundamentals\, personal defense\, and the Minnesota Permit to Carry. If you’ve been hesitant to learn or just want to train alongside other women\, this is the perfect opportunity! \nIs This Course Right for You?\n\nDo your kids hunt or enjoy shooting\, but you never had the chance to learn? This is the perfect place to start.\nHave you been wanting to learn about firearms but aren’t quite ready for your husband\, brother\, or dad to be your instructor? You’ll feel right at home here.\nIs your significant other into firearms\, but you don’t have much experience? This is a great opportunity to get familiar with guns in a comfortable setting.\nAre you considering taking the Minnesota Permit to Carry course but want to build your confidence first? Start here!\nDo you want to improve your personal safety or the safety of your household? This training will give you the foundational knowledge you need.\n\nWomen Only Weekend is typically offered just twice a year\, so don’t miss out on this unique opportunity! \n\nSaturday Courses\nFirearm Fundamentals | 8 AM – 5 PM\nOverview\nThis course is designed to introduce women to both long guns (rifles and shotguns) and handguns (semi-autos and revolvers). We’ll cover firearm components\, safety\, handling techniques\, grip\, stance\, sight alignment\, sight picture\, trigger control\, and more. Training includes both classroom instruction and live-fire range practice. \nSchedule \n\nMorning: Classroom instruction covering firearm safety\, gun components\, handling techniques (dry practice)\, and more.\nLunch Break: Bring your own meal or enjoy a bite at a nearby restaurant. A full kitchen is also available.\nAfternoon: Range time! You’ll have the opportunity to shoot a variety of firearms and calibers at your own comfort level—there’s no pressure to shoot anything you’re not comfortable with.\n\nWhat to Bring \n\nNo equipment required! Firearms\, ammunition\, and ear protection are provided.\nIf you own a firearm and want to become more familiar with it\, feel free to bring it along along with ammunition (available for purchase on-site).\nIf you have personal eye and ear protection\, you’re welcome to bring those as well.\n\nCourse Cost: $170 per student\n\nSunday Courses\nIntro to Personal Defense | 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM\nOverview\nThis classroom-only course focuses on situational awareness\, self-defense tactics\, and strategies to protect yourself without a firearm. You’ll learn valuable skills for handling real-world situations\, including unarmed defense against a gun. \nWhat to Bring \n\nNo special equipment is required.\nSince this course includes some hands-on activities\, wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.\n\nCourse Cost: $50 per student\n\nMinnesota Permit to Carry | 8 AM – 3 PM\nOverview\nThis course meets Minnesota state requirements for obtaining your Permit to Carry (Concealed Carry). It covers MN carry statutes\, use of force laws\, and the responsibilities of carrying a loaded handgun. \nCertification: \n\nRiver Valley Arms & Ammo is certified through the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to teach this course.\nUpon successful completion\, students will receive a certificate allowing them to apply for their MN Permit to Carry at their local sheriff’s office.\nAs NRA-certified instructors\, we also provide the option to apply for non-resident permits in WI\, IA\, and FL.\n\nSchedule \n\nMorning: Classroom instruction covering MN carry statutes\, use of force\, and legal responsibilities.\nAfternoon: 60-round live-fire qualification at Redwood Falls Sportsmen’s Club.\n\nLive-Fire Qualification Requirements:\n\n10 rounds at 3 yards\n10 rounds at 5 yards\n10 rounds at 7 yards\n10 rounds at 9 yards\n20 rounds of guided personal defense drills\n\nWhat to Bring \n\nHandgun (any caliber\, including revolvers and .22s allowed)\n60 rounds of ammunition\nEye & ear protection (available for purchase if needed)\n\nWhile there are no firearm restrictions\, we do not recommend large calibers or heavy revolvers for this course. \nCourse Cost:\n\nFirst-time applicants: $100\nRenewals: $75\n\n\nSign Up Today!\nWomen Only Weekend is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to train in a comfortable\, welcoming environment alongside other women.
